AAP's Saurabh Bhardwaj condemns the central government for "hooliganism" after the ED's raid on MLA Amanatullah's home

In New Delhi on September 2, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj accused the central government of "hooliganism" and criticized the Waqf properties money laundering case against fellow AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan as "rotten."
Bhardwaj claimed that the central government is misusing its agencies, citing that Khan had been granted bail in a case investigated by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). He noted that despite ACB’s findings and Khan’s bail, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) continued to investigate, alleging that this represents a misuse of power against political opponents.
Amanatullah Khan alleged that ED officials arrived at his Okhla residence to arrest him. Khan expressed frustration on social media, stating that the ED has been harassing him for two years and was targeting him while his family faced personal difficulties.
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari defended the raids, asserting that they are part of ongoing legal actions against corruption, mandated by the Supreme Court. Bhandari emphasized that anyone involved in corruption, according to law, should face legal consequences.
Earlier, the Rouse Avenue Court had granted bail to Khan in relation to the ED’s complaint about his alleged non-compliance with summons in the Waqf Board money laundering case. The ED’s complaint accused Khan of evading the investigation and alleged that he shifted from being a witness to an accused. The case involves accusations of illegal leasing of Waqf properties valued at Rs 100 crore and irregularities in hiring practices.
