MoS Margherita travels to Mexico to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of the new President.

Mexico City, October 4: Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, recently concluded his trip to Mexico, which took place from September 30 to October 2. This visit marked India’s participation in the swearing-in ceremony of President Claudia Sheinbaum, who has made history as Mexico's first female President.
Minister Margherita extended warm greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India on Sheinbaum's appointment.
Prior to the swearing-in ceremony, MoS Margherita engaged in productive discussions with prominent Mexican parliamentarians and leaders from the political and business sectors. Notable attendees included Marcela Guerra, former President of the Chamber of Deputies, Alejandro Murat Hinojosa, Chairman of the Senate's Foreign Relations Committee, and Senator Cynthia Lopez, along with various diplomatic representatives.
During his address, MoS Margherita emphasized the strong cultural and historical ties between India and Mexico while highlighting the expanding collaboration in fields such as science, technology, and innovation.
A cultural event was held to celebrate the connection between the two nations, featuring a blend of Indian and Mexican dance forms, including Assam's Bihu. MoS Margherita praised the Indian diaspora for their remarkable achievements and their contributions to India's growth narrative.
To underscore India's commitment to sustainability and environmental protection, MoS Margherita planted a sapling as part of the "Plant 4 Mother - Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign at the Embassy.
He also participated in the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations on October 2, paying tribute to the Gandhi statue alongside members of the Indian diaspora and followers of Mahatma Gandhi in Mexico. In a symbolic act, he led the "Swachhata Abhiyan" by cleaning the surrounding area, marking a decade since the launch of the "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan."
Mexico, as a G20 member, is a vital partner for India in the Latin American region and plays an essential role in the Global South. MoS Margherita's visit underscored India's commitment to strengthening its relations with Mexico.
