PM Modi will speak at the launch event for the 'Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Initiative.'

New Delhi [India], September 6: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the launch of the 'Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Initiative' in Surat, Gujarat, via video conferencing at approximately 12:30 pm today.

PM Modi highlighted the importance of water security and the government's commitment to achieving this through water conservation efforts. In a post on X, he stated, "Our government is dedicated to strengthening water security through conservation. I will participate in the launch program of the 'Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Initiative' in Surat, Gujarat via video conferencing today around 12:30 pm."

The 'Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Initiative' is a collaborative effort between the Government of Gujarat and the Ministry of Jal Shakti. The program aims to construct around 24,800 rainwater harvesting structures to enhance rainwater collection and ensure long-term water sustainability throughout the state.

An official statement explained, "Aligned with the PM's vision for water security, this initiative focuses on water conservation with strong community involvement and ownership. It follows the successful Jal Sanchay initiative led by the Government of Gujarat and is supported by the Ministry of Jal Shakti. The initiative seeks to engage citizens, local bodies, industries, and other stakeholders to ensure a water-secure future."

The statement further noted, "Approximately 24,800 rainwater harvesting structures will be built across the state with community collaboration. These structures will play a crucial role in improving rainwater harvesting and promoting long-term water sustainability."
